Jack and the Cloud Server

Once upon a time, there was a curious boy named Jack who loved exploring on his computer.

One afternoon he found a glowing space called the “Mystery Cloud” that promised lots of free room.

“Upload your pictures! Upload your games! Keep everything safe up here!” the cloud seemed to sing.

Jack, excited, dragged his photos, homework, and a secret story he had written into the cloud.

He didn’t check who the cloud belonged to, and he didn’t read the small rules at the bottom of the page.

At first, everything looked great — his files were there whenever he clicked. But at night the Mystery Cloud hummed and shifted.

From the cloud came a giant of a server — a noisy, blinking Giant who lived in a bright digital castle.

The Giant liked files. He liked them so much he hid some away, and he asked Jack for a special key to get them back.

When Jack tried to open his secret story, he found it locked. The Giant said, “If you want it back, give me a new password and tell your friends to join.”

Jack felt worried. He remembered his teacher’s words: “If a site asks for too much, or if something feels strange, stop and ask for help.”

Jack asked his mum and his teacher. They helped him find the real cloud provider’s website and showed him how to check who owned the Mystery Cloud.

With their help, Jack moved his important files to a trusted account, turned on extra locks, and made a safe backup at home.

The Giant of the Mystery Cloud couldn’t take Jack’s files now — the locks were strong, and Jack had his secret keys safe.

Jack learned that the online sky holds many clouds, and some are kind while others hide tricks.

What Jack Learned

Not every cloud is a safe cloud — check who owns it before you share your things.

Read the rules and privacy notes, and never give your password to strangers or strange websites.

Ask a grown-up for help if a site asks for too much, or if something feels confusing or scary.

Quick Safety Tips

  • Use cloud services you and your family know and trust.
  • Check the website address (URL) and look for a padlock (HTTPS).
  • Don’t share passwords — keep them secret and use strong ones.
  • Turn on two-step verification (2FA) when you can.
  • Keep a backup copy of important files on a safe device at home.
  • Ask a parent or teacher before joining a new service or clicking unknown links.
